INTERIOR PAINTING IN MINNESOTA
Interior painting costs in Minnesota: what to plan for.
For many standard professional interior repaint projects, a useful planning range is approximately $4–$6 per square foot of home size. These are planning numbers, not automatic quotes; the actual price depends on the surfaces, condition, preparation, and scope of your home.
Forge Point Painting MN serves homeowners from White Bear Lake across Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka, and Washington counties.

HELPFUL HOMEOWNER INFORMATION
What affects an interior painting project.
Every home has a different combination of rooms, surface conditions, details, and access. We price the actual project rather than assuming every house requires the same work.
Planning Range for a Whole-Home Repaint
For many standard projects, a 1,500-square-foot home may plan around $6,000–$9,000; a 2,000-square-foot home around $8,000–$12,000; a 2,500-square-foot home around $10,000–$15,000; and a 3,000-square-foot home around $12,000–$18,000. Larger homes or more detailed scopes can move beyond that range.
These figures are an initial budgeting tool. The final investment depends heavily on what you want painted and the condition of the home.
What Changes the Price
Square footage is a starting point, but the number of rooms, wall height, vaulted or two-story areas, wall condition, drywall repairs, color changes, furniture, detailed architecture, stairways, closets, trim, ceilings, and doors all affect the scope.
A 2,000-square-foot home with open rooms and walls in great condition is a very different project from one with damaged drywall, vaulted ceilings, detailed trim, and several major color changes.
What a Standard Interior Repaint Can Include
For many homeowners, the starting scope is painting walls throughout selected areas. We inspect the surfaces first to determine what preparation is needed before paint goes on.
Preparation may include filling small nail holes, minor surface repair, sanding repaired areas, spot priming when needed, and protecting floors, furniture, and surrounding surfaces. More extensive drywall repair can be addressed separately when appropriate.
Ceilings, Trim, and Doors
Walls-only repainting can be a practical base project. Ceilings, baseboards, window trim, door casing, interior doors, crown molding, built-ins, closets, and detailed surfaces can be added according to the result you want.
A complete repaint involving walls, ceilings, trim, and doors can move above a standard planning range because it adds surface area, preparation, cutting, and finish work.
Why Preparation Still Matters Indoors
Walls collect nail holes, dings, scratches, settlement cracks, previous patchwork, scuffs, and uneven surfaces. Painting directly over those issues does not make them disappear; a fresh finish can sometimes make imperfections more noticeable.
We inspect the surfaces before painting and determine what preparation makes sense for the project and finish you want to live with.
Color Changes and Occupied Homes
Major color changes can require additional coverage, primer, or finish coats depending on the existing color, the new color, the product, and the surface. We account for this while building the estimate so expectations stay clear.
We paint occupied homes. Furniture and belongings may need to be moved toward the center of rooms and protected, while floors, counters, cabinets, and fixtures are covered. You do not need to empty the house before calling; accessibility is simply part of evaluating the project.
What to Compare in an Estimate
Do not compare painting estimates by price alone. Compare what you are actually receiving: rooms and surfaces included, preparation, products, ceilings, trim and doors, repairs, payment expectations, and project expectations.
Two contractors can look at the same home and quote very different scopes. The details matter.
